.22 Bench Rest Shoots 2008

FEBRUARY 15, 2008

Paul Brasky will be stepping down from running our .22 bench rest shoots. Paul Granberg has graciously agreed to take over the .22 BR matches this year. The match dates are: May 18; June 22; July 27; August 24; and Sept. 21 (see calendar). Fees will remain the same as last year: $10 for the first target and $5 for each additional target. The only major change is that we won't use the intermediate target and just stick to the large, 8" bull targets for aperture-, open- and scope-sighted rifles.

First Annual Scarawan Cup

Below are the results of the First Annual Scarawan Cup. I would like to thank Paul B. for running this event. It was a big success and both club members were very happy with the event. The Vly club members will be happy to host next years event. Lets hope this is going to be the start of very good relations with the Vly club. Thanks to all for coming out to support this event.

SCARAWAN CUP MATCH - Photos

JANUARY 19, 2008

Today marked the beginning of a new relationship between Marbletown Sportsmen’s Club and the Vly Sportsmen’s Club when members of both organizations joined one another in the spirit of competition and sportsmanship. The momentous occasion was a .22 shoot featuring off-hand relays at 25 yards, using both scoped and iron-sighted rifles. Judging by the number of relays, four 8-man relays for iron sights and four [8-man] relays for scoped rifles, and the smiles on the particpants’ faces, the event was a huge success. The last relay, using four of the best iron-sight shooters and four scoped rifle shooters from each club, decided the outcome of the match; i.e., which club would take the Scarawan Cup home. In short, the Vly Sportsmen beat Marbletown Sportsmen by a score* of 274-1x to 253-1x. Naturally a rematch is planned. Thanks to Jeff Budik and Chris Eckhardt for providing lunch for the cold and hungry shooters!
